Artist: Frank Eckmair (American, 1930-2012)
New York born Printmaker, engraver, professor, illustrator and fine paper maker. Recieved BA from State University of Iowa and MFA in printmaking from Ohio University. In 1963 he began a teaching position at the State University of Buffalo. Eckmair was interested in the production of fine papers, and established the Buffalo Prints and Paper company as well as a paper mill in Costa Rica. Both of these establishments also had a teaching component to them, in which students were instructed on printmaking techniques. His works are featured in the collections of the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, and The Whitney Museum of Art.
