Artist: Elliott Daingerfield (American, 1858-1932)
American artist. Daingerfield was influenced by the Barbizon School and later by religion. He is known for poetic and mystical landscapes, which he painted from memory, and renowned most for depictions of the Grand Canyon. He claimed art was a vehicle of God's expression that communicates the "language of the spirit." He moved to New York from Blowing Rock, NC and ceased to paint much after 1924 because of poor health.
