  • Artist: David Alfaro Siqueiros (Mexican, 1896-1974)

Mexican mural painter. Painted huge murals infused with social causes supporting his leftist politics, unafraid of blending art and politics. Led unions of artists and workingmen throughout his life, leading to numerous jailing and periods of exile. Worked in Los Angeles during the 1930s and created murals that showcased America’s forceful relationship with Latin America, and even opened a young artists' school in New York. Theme in his later works was anti-Fascist, and passionately left-wing.
