African-American artist, illustrator and art educator. Burnett attended the Massachusetts School of Art in 1942 and received his MFA from Boston University in 1960. He taught at the Massachusetts College of Art, the DeCordova Museum and other institutions. Some of his works were exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution and the Brooklyn Museum.
