Artist: Buzz Spector (American, b. 1948)
Earned his B.A. in art from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and his M.F.A. from the Committee of Art and Design at the University of Chicago in 1972 and 1978 respectively. Has published several books including Buzzwords, a collection of interviews with Spector and The Book Maker’s Desire, a collection of Spector’s essays on art. Has exhibited at many institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Received the college Art Association’s Distinguished Teaching of Art Award in 2013 and a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award in 1991 among other awards and fellowships. Was the professor and chair of the Department of Art in Cornell University and the head of the painting program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently teaches art at Washington University in Saint Louis.
