Artist: Bob Camblin (American, 1928-2010)
American paintiner and drawer. Camblin earned his M.F.A in painting at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1955. He then moved on to teach studio art at Rice University alongside Joe Tate and Earl Staley. Camblin has always been cautious of the interpretations of his works. He treats his subject matter as a collection of 'fragments,' which do not have an overt metaphorical vlaue or meaning. His use of imagery is ever-changing, constantly altered by water, opaque white and colored pigments. He is purisit in this sense, and has adopted a variety of genre and personas throughout his artistic career.
