American painter. In 1841, Champney began studying painting in France. He found much inspiration in the varying landscapes across Europe, and spent significant time painting in countries such as Germany, Switzerland and France. in 1856, Champney founded the Boston Art Club; an association of artists that served as a nexus for Members and non Members to access the world of Fine Art.
