Artist: Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528)
German painter, draftsman, writer and printmaker of the Renaissance period. Durer apprecnticed under his father, a local goldsmith and with a local painter, Wolgemut. Durer is credited with revolutionizing printmaking by expanding it s tonal range an new conceptual imager. His most notable pieces are "The Apocalypse", the "Large Woodcit Passion" and the "Life of the Virgin". He was heavily influenced by the artistic practices and conceptual concerns of Italy. A clear influence of the Italian Renaissance can be seen in his works.
