Artist statement:
We humans experience time by the calendars and clocks that measure our daily lives while all around us the landscape provides a monument to geologic time. For this piece, using several colored filters I photographed the landscape and changing clouds throughout the day looking northwest from Searchlight toward the Highland and McCollough Ranges. These individual images were subsequently layered for the final piece. On one hand, the image represents several moments in one day, but for me it also is a reminder of the complex colorful composition of past layers that lie beneath the earth’s surface and are remnants of a much longer timeline.
