Coyolxauhqui is the energy of the moon; this piece is about the feminine being broken, the feminine feeling incomplete, although she is always whole sometimes she appears incomplete. This particular version is a skin byrd which is a sub-genre of the punk movement: skin birds emerged from the sexism they experienced within the punk movement, being told women can’t be punk, so they made their own movement. They shaved their heads and wore boots. They started bands. They were brutal in the mosh pits, and they strove to out-macho the men that told them they were too feminine.
This is dedicated to the rebellious feminine.
