Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Chupik graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with an MFA in 1995. He moved to Las Vegas in 1997. In 2011 he exhibited a series of woman/bird diptychs in a show he named Plumage. “The fact that there are birds in my paintings isn’t as much as a celebration of the natural as it is a commentary on the human condition,” he told Jarret Keene from Las Vegas Seven. “I liked the premise about having the bird world and human world, the feathers and the skin, and how they mirror each other.” Plumage was the second of three woman-themed shows that he held at Brett Wesley Gallery between 2009 and 2013. His most recent exhibition, Clarity of Youth (2014), saw him move to other subjects such as ships, trains, and travel.
