Many times during our Bruha Baddies podcast recordings, the trauma experienced and carried by our ancestors comes up. I took time to really sit down and investigate what that past looks like with my mother to bridge the geographic and language barrier between my Lola Dading and me. I heard the story once before when I was a child and my Lola was a bit bilingual. As someone working in education and aiding in the education of others, it is not something I take lightly since my Lola’s education pipeline was disrupted by war. I carry her dreams, hopes, and power to a larger stage without forgetting her inability to access the same opportunities.
