"Windswept-Tilghman Tides" was painted entirely en plein air on Tilghman Island on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It was a beautiful day in June and I set up my easel and paints directly below a docked boat (for sun protection) facing the marshes.

It was a hot day but with a beautiful breeze. I wanted to capture the fleetingness of the clouds and the movement of the wind. The greens of the marshes were a bright green and the water (just visible in the painting) a silvery blue.

I was supposed to be painting boats but got distracted by the greenness of the marshes and the wind. I love the greys in the sky and feel I captured the atmosphere of the day in this painting.
