"Incoming" is a part of my Madison County series that depicts my memories of the Shenandoah's in my abstracted way of painting . The dark cloud made it's way into an otherwise light-filled painting and has subsequently shown itself in some of my work. It is by no means foreboding, but rather gives the viewer a way in or out of the painting, a portal of sort.

I have painted Madison County, Virginia scenes numerous times and every time I paint the landscape the colors I choose are greens and blues, not because these are the colors I necessarily see but rather the colors that I think represent this area and this landscape.

When I think of these rural scenes they bring peace of mind in an otherwise busy city life.

I still appreciate the rawness of this painting.
