Rebekah, the wife of Issac (Yitzak), fools her blind
husband into giving his blessing to Jacob, rather
than his favored son Esau. Whether you see her as
a deceiver or a faithful agent of God is a matter of
opinion. Whatever her motives, she was a powerful
woman, and perhaps, according to some scholars,
a shaman in her homeland.
This quilt was the first that I exhibited internationally,
opened at Western Galilee University in 2005 and
subsequently traveled throughout the U.S.
