In 1976 the United States celebrated the 200th anniversary to independence from British imperial rule in 1776. Quilts that were made at the time commemorated the Bicentennial reflect both patriotic fervor and constructive criticism of the government. In this Bicentennial Quilt, one side lists the states, their governor in 1976, and year of statehood. On the reverse, there is an outline of Idaho, names of their Governor and Senators in 1976, and portraits of George Washington, Uncle Sam, a liberty bell, and a Native American Chief.
