- Arvesta Long Auble
The quilter's grandson, Richard Crum, wrote: "By the norms of today, Arvesta Long Auble did not have an easy life. A small, plain woman, she did what she was told, worked hard, and had children for the simple reason that that was what women had to do. To have something she did placed in a museum for others to admire would have been beyond her comprehension." She likely made the quilt for her home during her married life, before her children were grown.
