From the Artist: I based this work on a photo my brother, Steven Gould, took off the coast of Antarctica, while working on an expedition cruise. The iceberg is one of the largest in the area, over 300 feet high, and the ship captain woke everyone up in the middle of the night to see it. The sun is up almost 24 hours in the Southern Hemisphere summer, and I liked that the light in the sky was subdued but there were dramatic highlights and shadows on the iceberg and dancing reflections on the ocean.
