Alexander Hernandez patches together multiple identities and narratives like a Frankensteinian creature made from his Oaxacan roots, Colorado upbringing, Queer sensibilities, HIV+ status and fuses them with pop culture artifacts. He braids traditional quilting techniques with digitized prints; using colors and patterns that both clash and complement each other. His work embraces ripped holes, unraveling threads, and raw edges- revealing layers of gender defiance and acculturation anxieties.
