This painting is big - approximately 6' wide and 5'6" tall - because I wanted it to feel life-size, like you could just walk right into it. I painted it after reading a poem that I found profoundly moving. It was about reaching the end of a life well-lived, and the feeling of being free to let go without regrets.

We often tend to think about our own mortality in negative terms, and it can be a bit of a taboo subject. The fact is, none of us will live forever, so maybe we should take more time to contemplate all that we have achieved in our lives, and celebrate those things, so that we can feel at peace whenever it's our time to leave.
