This was a turning point in my life and attempts as an artist. Overnight, I switched my art style from the safety of black ink on paper to a riot of colour and identity in an act of defiance. I no longer wanted to be contained to what was bringing me no joy and pleasure, all because I committed to a style that defined my work to a bunch of 'followers'. I had to make a decision; either I stick to what makes them happy, or I pour myself into something brand new and see where it takes me. And, oh did it take me.
