Ripped Off concerns being subjected to betrayal and its impact on trust and pain on the heart. Undressed With Their Eyes regards the sexual abuse of children, women and men since pre-history. This phenonium impacts the current mental health of individuals, and going forward into the next generation. Hopefully the stigma is turning away from silence and shame to openness and accountability. Headlight is a mixed media sculpture that represents the fragile state between functionality and dysfunction. The mosaic of pills suggests the potential life changing impact of medical and pharmaceutical intervention in people struggling with mental health issues.
Bio:
Melanie Mills has had an interest in art, psychology and social justice from an early age. She has a degree in studio arts, and an advanced degree in Art Therapy and Counseling psychology. She has practiced in the mental health field for over 30 years, and currently has a private practice in Savannah, GA specializing in counseling, addictions, and trauma.
