The Space Between #1

Susan Carey recently relocated to Madison from Eau Claire where she taught elementary art for 34 years. Susan studied painting and received an MA in Art education at the University of Illinois before putting painting aside to concentrate on her teaching and raising her family. Upon retirement she found her passion for painting again and is currently creating abstract paintings in oil and cold wax. Over the past several years Susan has exhibited in many regional shows.

In my paintings I strive to evoke a sense of space and mystery the viewer can immerse themselves in and explore while savoring the marks and texture of the surface itself. I am inspired by land and nature, as well as, how we interact with our natural world to create spaces.
