Sometimes I like to take a step back and look at my art collection that I have created, so far, as a whole and see how the paintings relate to each other to some extent and how they separate and stand alone, too. I wonder, do I have a recognizable style and do other people notice or are they aware of my style, if I have one? Anyway, I digress.
About this painting, I think it manages to differentiate itself a bit from my other paintings, in one respect. In this painting, I focused more on keeping a large percentage of the canvas in a flat color, a single-color area in the top half of this painting. It happens from time to time, where I successfully focus on underworking an area, intentionally and consciously avoiding adding details and elements to that area. While the lower half contains a lot of stylized geometric elements with curved lines that flow around the geometry.
So the deliberate and very different treatments of the upper and lower halves of this painting proved, in the end, to be very effective and attention-grabbing, with such contrasting treatments from top to bottom. Oh, I also want to say it has a nice warm temperature, warm tones like many of my paintings. Do you agree? What do you think of this description and what do you think of this painting?
