Antes de acercarme al lienzo, para esta pintura, sentí una fuerte necesidad de usar pasta texturizada como base sólida. Así que respeté el impulso y comencé a aplicar cantidades generosas de pasta texturizada en áreas específicas. Dado que planeé hacer que esta pintura formara parte de mi colección Stratageo, las texturas pesadas sugieren o implican a sabiendas superficies de piedra o rocosas, por lo que el material de textura tenía sentido para usar.

Para atraer y maximizar aún más la superficie texturizada, elegí cubrir las áreas texturizadas con una pintura metálica plateada altamente reflectante. Designé deliberadamente algunas áreas, llamo canales, serpenteando por todo el lienzo, sin textura. Al hacerlo, se creó un contraste visual y dimensional significativo y se crearon canales que funcionarían bien para formas más pequeñas, pintadas, más suaves y coloridas. Además, agregaron variedad y estimulación visual a la composición general. Parece haber funcionado bien.

Before I approached the canvas, for this painting, I was feeling a strong urge to use textured paste as a strong foundation. So I honored the urge and began applying liberal amounts of textured paste in specific areas. Since I planned to make this painting part of my Stratageo collection, the heavy textures knowingly suggest or imply stone or rocky surfaces, so the texture material made sense, to utilize. To further attract and maximize the textural surface I chose to coat the textured areas in a highly reflective silver metallic paint. I purposefully designated some areas, I call channels, meandering throughout the canvas, free of texture. Doing so made important visually and dimensional contrast and created channels that would work well for smaller, painted, smooth, colorful and smaller shapes. Plus they added variety and visual stimulation to the overall composition. Seems to have worked well. So what do you think of my abstract, Stratageo 5? Feel free to comment.
