Always have been fascinated by geological formations, gemstones, crystals, limestone, granite, marble etc. So this strong interest has made it's way into my favorite abstract compositions and themes. But not to say that the viewer won't see other imagery in this painting. The impressions of the viewer are very individual and the viewer perhaps perceives something quite different. That is also the beauty of art....it is personal.
I started by preparing the canvas with an undercoat of texturizing paste. Then next began to overlay my irregular and primary, curving shapes of various colors. The palette chosen was in the realm of cooler colors and some mid temperature warm tones. The browns, greys, tans etc suggest earth tones and the blue areas suggest water. Through the vertical central area the painting evolves into an area of concentrated, compressed flowing lines that give a feeling of an area under pressure. Gold metallic appears in various places and simply represents actual gold that naturally forms within the earth. Feel free to comment and provide your thoughts, feelings upon viewing my abstract, called "Fissures and Fragments". Would love to hear from you.
