I love still life because I can draw attention to the beauty in the little things that may pass us by. This little collection of bottles is rendered in traditional gouache (opaque watercolour), which has a wonderful matte, creamy texture and can offer bold, dramatic colour. It's know for it's opacity, so it was a fabulous challenge to render something luminous and transparent.

"Bottled up" packs a lot of visual punch for a small painting.
