All my artwork has a story to tell, like all art. This piece resonates with me because of a past experience. A few years after coming to Tyler I visited Mrs. Lee's Daffodil farm in Gladewater here in east Texas. Astounded by the vastness and beauty of the place naturally inspired me. To think all these yellow flowers, cared and tended to by one lady from the past so that she could bring this to us and me in the future. It is definitely not realistic interpretation from that visit, but a figurative one. I find realism in art to be an exceptional means to expression, and I applaud anyone that achieves this. However, in my own view I find a more figurative approach is more meaningful sometimes. Like the saying goes, "Everything has its time and place, and a place in time." This piece along with "Prickly Pear" both are truly my favorite pieces that I created. Simply because they represent two very distinct worlds that I was and am apart of in the same great state of Texas.
