Golden dandelion, the humblest wild flower, glows incandescently in a frame of bright red, setting a regal and exotic tone to that which should never again be considered a weed.
One of a series of twelve in my Boxed Still Life: Floral Series #1
This original acrylic painting is on 8" x 8" stretched canvas with matching painted sides to enhance the 'boxed' look and is wired and ready to hang.
The genesis of my Boxed Still Life series project was in 2010 when I decided to photograph various fruits in my daughter’s colorful wooden stacking/nesting boxes as series of ‘boxed still life’. It was/is my attempt to create a trompe l’oeil effect so that anyone viewing the paintings might feel as if they could reach into them and pick up the object depicted. They turned out so well and got such a good response that I thought it would be fun to do a new BSL series every year (or as near to every year as life permitted). This is from my second series from 2011 featuring flowers.
