Biography

Vicky Cooke worked as the Executive Director of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition from 2000 to 2017. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is Delaware’s only nonprofit focused on breast health issues, providing “outreach, support services, and education throughout Delaware and the neighboring states.” Cooke aims for a world where cancer does not exist, but in the meantime, “the best tools available are early detection, awareness, education, and access to screening.”

During Cooke’s time at the coalition, she expanded the agency and broke down barriers to mammography screenings, in part thanks to a partnership with the Women’s Mobile Health Screening Van. She’s also helped support newly diagnosed patients – herself a two-time survivor of breast cancer. The coalition also provides training in culturally competent care for women’s healthcare providers.

A graduate of the University of Delaware and Villanova University, Cooke had over 48 years of nonprofit management experience when she retired. Cooke has also served on the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Board of Directors, the Delaware Cancer Consortium, and Highmark’s BluePrints for the Community Advisory Council. She was also awarded the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s annual Victoria Cooke Leadership Award in 2017.
