Biography
Linda L. Chick initiated a number of projects and activities in health care, education, and family services to improve the quality of life for her community. She “views obstacles as opportunities and expects no more of others than she is willing to give of herself. She especially encourages her children and grandchildren by recruiting them to get involved on behalf of others.” Some of her projects include Kids Fest; the Lake Forest Community Education Foundation; New Street Fair, a carnival developed for at-risk children in over’s New Street Area; and People Helping People, which supports children and families living in public housing at Clark’s Corner in Harrington.
Chick has served on the board at Bayhealth Medical Center, People’s Place II, the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, House of Pride, Delaware Business and Professional Women, and the League of Women Voters of Greater Delaware. For her volunteer work, Chick has twice been awarded the Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. People’s Place honored her with the ‘Leader of the Year’ Award in 2001, and she’s also given the Harrington Business and Professional Women’s ‘Woman of the Year Award,’ and been inducted into the Delaware Business and Professional Women’s Hall of Fame.
