Biography
Secretary Jennifer Cohan has been an impactful leader for the State of Delaware for over three decades. She leads by example, hard work, motivation, and compassion. She volunteers her time on numerous boards to serve those less fortunate, in need and promoting the visibility and strength of women. Cohan is a board member of the greater Dover Boys and Girls Club, Delaware American Heart Association, and the Hope Medical Clinic.
Cohan served as the Secretary of the Delaware Department of Transportation under two Governors, her career in public service spanning more than 31 years. Before her role as Secretary, Cohan was the first woman director of the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles, Program Manager at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and a member of the Office of the Controller General with the Delaware State Legislature.
Today, Cohan is the CEO of Leadership Delaware, an organization focused on teaching the leaders of tomorrow, through issue-oriented forums and experiences, and give the year-long fellows opportunities to meet with accomplished leaders in Delaware. She also teaches as an adjunct Professor at her alma mater, Wilmington University, as part of their master’s program in Leadership and Public Policy.
She consistently seeks innovation for the betterment of the citizens of Delaware. Cohan has a long history of promoting women in leadership and continues to do so today.
