ARTIST STATEMENT
The basis of my work is Perception; how we as humans differentiate and connect with other categories of existing matter. It is often difficult to empathize with other, seemingly unconscious, forms of matter. My work aims to create a connection between these foreign and abstract realms, by putting them into a context with familiar objects/ scales and in a ritualistic atmosphere. I am primarily interested in representations and experiences of Nature; fantasy applications of what it could be, what it was, how the sciences describe and predict, how the ontological attempts to set a framework for understanding and context.

ARTIST BIO
Andy Corbett is a multi-disciplinary artist utilizing foraged materials and tools to communicate the intersection between the human experience and the sciences. His interests in theoretical physics, in tandem with a fascination for natural forms, results in the creation of objects that draw on geometries, diagrams, abstracted spaces, and the validity of our subjective reality. He continues to question what structures we have developed for understanding our environments including religion, the scientific method, philosophy, and cultural narratives. Andy received his BSED in Art Education and BFA in Painting from Missouri State University in 2015 and is a current candidate for an MFA in Visual Studies, expecting to graduate in 2025.
