This original digital mural by Rocky Casillas Aguirre was commissioned in October, 2025, by the City of Northfield as a way to create an artistic visual barrier around an unsightly vacant lot surrounded by construction fencing. The site was once home of the Archer House hotel, a significant historic structure destroyed by fire in November of 2020.
The Northfield Public Library generated the list of over 100 works by local authors and authors with a strong connection to the community and colleges.
The text on the introductory panel, contributed by the artist, reads:
"To celebrate the storytellers of our community, the City of Northfield joins with Latino artist Rocky Casillas Aguirre. The artwork, featuring Rocky’s magical characters, honors over 100 books by Northfield authors! We invite you to discover your favorite titles and share in the beauty of a community bound by creativity and imagination."
This project was made possible by funds from the City of Northfield's Art in Public Places Program.
