Sailboat is a 17.5 x 24.5 inch reproduction print located at the Norfolk Veterans' Residential Facility in the D section to the right of the lounge. This print is a depiction of a few buildings on stilts above the water with sailboats tied off at the docks. This image is a a overall bright blue tone with the blue of the water and the blue of the sky allowing the houses/buildings and boats to accent it.
Hayslette was born in Rupert, West Virginia in 1929. He graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1951. Following which, he studied under Egon Weiner and Alexander Archipenko briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1962 he moved to Seattle Washington, where he was the principle at Berg, Hayslette, Dupar design firm. in 1973 he founded Olympus Graphics, Inc. and Olympus Atelier on Bainbridge island, WA. He now lives and works on the Kitsap Peninsula in WA.
