This surreal landscape utilizes the mechanism of perspective and detail to evoke within the viewer a sense of altered awareness. The subtle illusion of distance is created through poured layers of crystal-clear resin. The minutia of endless detail mimics the countless fascinating features of being present and perceptive in a natural setting. Interspersed among the vast variety of wildflowers are certain species endemic to the Nebraska environment: 17 Wood Rose, 3 Cone Flowers, 4 Mexican Hats, 22 Prairie Cone Flowers, 12 Sunflowers, and 4 Queen Anne’s Laces. There are also 23 different mushrooms, 2 snails, and a mouse. These synthesized elements simulate a feeling of pastoral vastness and interest juxtaposed by the interior setting.
