"Nebraska Mauler being escorted back to Thorpe Abbotts-1944" is a 19 x 48 inch painting located in the Eastern Nebraska Veterans' Home in the dedication neighborhood hall next to the dining room.
This abstract painting has a hazy orange background, lightly representing the United States flag. In the foreground, there are two airplanes facing the left hand side. The large airplane is towards the center and leaves a deep blue sky-trail and the smaller airplane is in the upper right corner.
Slick grew up in New York with a father who worked for the Navy and fell in love with the war stories told by his dad's friends when they would come over. Slick would have gone into the Service if he could have, but he is legally blind in one eye which made him unable to join.
