About the Artist:
Nancy Lee Earle
Nancy has been painting for over 40 years.
When I was 8 years old I was given an award for the best painting of a sail boat in the ocean and a stormy sky in front of the whole school. I was so elated! I knew painting would aways hold a special place in my heart. I got into portrait painting in high school and sold some pieces and again I felt I was on the right path. I had 3 children so that took me away from painting as much as I would have liked. Music has always been a love of mine too. In 1988 I lost my little girl days before her 10th birthday in Yosemite from a fallen tree. It crushed our cabin and the 120 ft. pine tree landed on her chest while she was laying in her bed. My last memories of her was she was an amazing singer songwriter. She could belt out the blues. I knew I had to do something to honor her memory and keep her legacy alive. Her life was cut short and her memory lives on and makes a difference. Deeply saddened I wanted to turn a tragedy into a triumph so I stepped away from painting, started a non-profit 501c3 foundation called Star Jasmine and went to recording school and produced a CD called Star Jasmine to offer comfort to those who lost a loved one and with the 100% of the proceeds we gifted instruments to kids whose families could not afford them. Still felt I could do more. I attended a leadership workshop in Esalen in Big Sur CA. The teacher said, "Start from now and fast forward your life to the day you died, now fill in the blanks, What did you do?" "You have one minute to answer that". Right away I knew I was suppose to open a music school to help kids, low income families and special needs with free music. So JAMS music school was born. I didn't have a clue on how to do this. Now 10 years later I hired a business coach. JAMS was behind two months on all the bills, my coach, Dan says to me, "Nancy, What do you really love to do?" "I said anything?" He said, " Yes, anything." " I said I love to paint!" Dan said, "I want you to do nothing but paint for 10 days." "I said no! I have all these leads to find funding." He said, "nothing but paint." He comes back in 10 days and says, "how do you feel now"? I said, "great!" He said, "now I want you to do this this and this for JAMS." I said, " no! You said paint and now I'm painting." One of the teachers at our school said, "your'e an artist and I do sculptures, lets have an exhibit at my home." So we did and I sold 6 paintings and she sold sculptures and donated a portion of her sales to the school and we caught up on all the bills for the school. Now I am painting to help support the school. I feel I am living life so purposefully.
This art exhibit is the sea scape series. Nancy's influence has been inspired by her love of the ocean and connecting with the beauty in nature.
Its the vibe that takes me somewhere far away, drawn into a peaceful place of contemplation. A treasured memory that is timeless. It is my hope that it takes you to a special place too! Enjoy.
Love, light and oceans of joy to you.
