In Zen Buddhism, an Enso is a sacred symbol representing enlightenment, strength, elegance, and the universe. It's traditionally drawn with a single brushstroke and symbolizes the interconnectedness of all things, as well as the beauty of imperfection. The Enso can also represent the cyclical nature of life, self-acceptance, and the journey toward enlightenment.
To illustrate the collective creation of artistry in this image, I collaborated with painter Malik Tate. Malik painted the model's back before I photographed her.
