She owns her one-of-a-kind, the marks
-the swirls and bright colours that set her personality apart, the green polka dot vase purse over her arm. She walks into the room to take her place and says, "I couldn’t wait to get here. Don’t you love my purse? Now, who is here to chat?"
It’s expressive, fun, colourful, and sure to bring a smile to your walls. This one started on a gypsum background, textured and hard with shadows of black, and it was layered below. What I enjoy exploring in these boards is the ability to carve into them, and I dug and carved the “table” polka dot tissue paper vase. It journey was definitely not a straght one and not always logice steps . As you can see, one thing always leads to another, and one thing that always trips me up is having visions in my head of where something is going. My mind saw an old painting I loved, wanting to have some of its flavour, and so I started on a journey down that path. The red was wrong, the vase was wrong, and the flowers were wrong. I kept fiddling and fiddling, but the magic wasn’t there; flat and listless. It was a different day, a different me, and nothing worked. Time for a disrupter; it had to be dramatic, a new direction, and a star was born. When I let go of the reins, creativity is set free.
