While in Venice, Italy on an artist's residency in 2015, American abstract painter, Michael Rich, filled a sketchbook with pen and ink drawings made while walking the city. After returning to his home studio, Michael began turning these small sketches into a series of ambitious, intaglio monoprints. These intensely colored prints are each one unique in their imagery. Using a method of monoprinting that combines multiple plates using a full range of intaglio techniques from aquatint, drypoint, engraving, soft and hard ground etching.
