This sculpture was part of a generous donation to the Mendocino Art Center by Janet & David Peoples. Ceramic "Foo Dog", creature with prominent brow, bared white fangs with tobacco spit glaze.
This is from his "Demon Dogs" series spanning 1987-1996, according to Diana Daniels - Curator Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento in "CLAYTON BAILEY'S WORLD OF WONDERS" by Diana Daniels with essays by Phil Linares - Curator, Oakland Museum of Art and Dr. Patrick Frank - Scholar
