After completing her work at Baltimore Museum of Art, she was appointed as manager of educational programs at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, (New York Public Library).
Formerly an adjunct instructor of African American Art History at City College of San Francisco, she continues to teach art to primary school children.

She incorporates painting, digital photography, and printmaking into collage/assemblages, then utilizes her constructed compositions for surface design on paper, canvas, wood, metal, and textiles. In addition to her current art practice, she is a lecturer and exhibition program consultant for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Oakland Museum of California, among others. She has published several essays on subjects related to Black American art, history, and culture. Poetry is also an element of her creative production.
Nashormeh also served on the California Arts Council for seven years, three of which as the first African American woman council chair. She currently lives and works in California with her husband, actor Delroy Lindo, and their son, Damiri.
