I painted these from the cobblestones in Memphis, across from Mud Island Park. The river boats are iconic to Memphis, and while I was painting the Mississippi Queen pulled up to dock further down river. It was midsummer and very hot, so I painted this in the shade of a bush, the only shade I could find.
