Las Calacas Coronas (1 of 4)
Clay molded mask, cast in fiberglass.
Calaca mask surrounded by blue, green, and orange planks; created by artist to represent the rays of the sun and embody the "energy of life." Outside crown perimeter painted in yellow and embellished with silver metalcraft pieces. Rectangular middle plank with southwest designs carved in. Followed by two blue triangular shaped rays on each side, two arrows with green painting embellishments, two rounded-edged planks with a multi-color orange, blue, and green southwest design, and finally two arrow shaped planks with blue and green overlapping triangles.
Part of the Las Calacas Coronas series originally created as a performance piece. Currently on a perfomance hiatus because of the ill fit on performers.
