Fly Amanita
Margo Lehman's Deadly Beauties is a delight of a watercolor that skillfully combines elements of still life and landscape. Subtle color changes abound in the mushroom caps and greenery, and the artist sensitively controls intensity - there is no muddy color here, nor does any unnatural bright dominate. The deep shadows add a shady-day-in-the-woods realism and serve to set off each mushroom's odd organic individuality. Molly Marie Nuzzo, juror, Associate Professor of Art at Montgomery College.
