Observational nature study based on Yellow Rattle growing in my mini meadow.
Not strickly speaking a lawnflower - if you are lucky enought to establish Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor) you are well on the way to having a meadow rather than a lawn.
It's taken 10 years to get established in my mini meadow outside the studio, starting with handfulls of really fresh seed from Great Dixter, initially giving just 3 plants but steadily increasing each year.
The flower is popular with the wildlife including Carder bees (they like the pendular flowers), tiny "flea" beetles (one of which joined me in the studio) and the thick legged flower beetle (I think I disturbed a courting couple).
