“Miss America” focuses on the Asian American experience, specifically that of Asian American women. It is an exploration of the stereotypes that veil us, that we are "seen" through, without really being seen.

These photos were taken on black and white film, developed, scanned, inverted, printed onto translucent paper, contact-printed onto lumens paper, scanned into photoshop, and edited to distort the images, resulting in images that both exaggerate and contradict the stereotypes they carry.

There is more to these images than what meets the eye, and there is more to us than what you see.
