A small, distant wildfire can't compete with this dramatic sunset lighting a mesa just outside historic Fort Davis, Texas.
Sunsets are splendid things in the high desert. This one included the glow of a wildfire in the Davis Mountains State Park that volunteer firefighters (including my own husband, Jim Severns) thankfully controlled. Wildfire can be frightening, but in this case, it certainly added such wild beauty to the sky! This night reminded me nature has her own ways, and sometimes, we're only observers.
