As technology creeps in ever more into our lives, my subject matter revolves around time spent outdoors in the natural spaces of the San Diego area. Using photographic references, my purpose is to highlight the reciprocal quality of the relationships we have with all life on Earth. With climate destruction, mass extinction and uninhabitable temperatures in the not so distant future, my work explores the desire to preserve, protect and remember. As humans we are intimately connected to the plants and animals around us. We directly impact and are directly impacted many natural forces. Children are very aware of their place in the web of life, and they understand the responsibility humans have to be stewards of the Earth. I often wonder about the state of the Earth when they become adults. My paintings are my desire to preserve for them not only precious moments of their childhood, but also the Earth as it was before climate collapse.
